The dent is in one spot only. Right over the 4 paper feed buttons
(natch) . As a matter of fact, you really can't tell the dent is there
from looking at first, only when you go to operate the plastic buttons.
they stick, and it took me a few minutes of being puzzled to realise
that the cover was bent, not just the buttons being dirty. The printer
controls work fine.-- matter of fact, the front cover still fits, and
the fasteners lock. I simply found out about the dent when I went to
open the flap which covers the lights for the keyboard, and noticed the
rivets had been pushed thru the hinge on the right.
The operation and condition of the printer and keyboard are perfect, or
will be when I finish cleaning and lubing.

Proboably the easiest way will be to remove the front cover, remove
the buttons.springs, etc, and the flap to prevent damage, and press the
front straight with 2 pieces of wood or aluminum, (at least until the
buttons work smoothly) reswage the rivets on the flap, and start printing.

FYI, its a TT-299B/UG in a CY=2977A/UG Navy case.

Tnx much for the help!! I have to remove the printer anyway, and do some
cleaning, so the solution fits right in with the normal maintenance...
