...an errant thought crossed my mind about the (often heretical) combinations 
of mechanical and computer based devices we see implemented to help people 
indulge their love of TTY.

Then it occurred to me that one thing I have yet to see is a program that turns 
your screen into a picture of a platen with a type head travelling across it as 
it prints out the data it's receiving on the serial port.

Of course, it'd be mandatory to have the audio set up appropriately as well.

The one thing that'd be mechanically tricky to do would be setting up the 
controller that managed the force feedback for print head hits and the CPU-
shifting (along the desktop) carriage returns...
