Yes Jack,

The 26 was in the middle of the M15 life cycle.  I can give you 
better dates when I locate my M26 manual.  The 26 was developed 
specifically for the Bell System Teletypewriter Exchange Service.  It 
was thought to make the service available to more customers as they 
were less expensive to build, transport and install than the 15.  The 
flaw was the additional time and parts needed for on-going 
maintenance. Previously the lower cost alternative was the M14 strip 
printer.  When manual TWX was first advertised the only machine shown 
in the ads is the M14 strip printer.

The interesting thing about the M26 on ebaY is that it is other than 
Bell System.  I have never seen or heard of a 26 in anything but Bell 
System TWX service.
