Just to add to the confusion...
The Tech manual for the Teletypewriter TT-4/TG (dated April 1951) contains
the following information under Operational Tests:
Type at least five consecutive copies of:
THE QUICK BROWN FOX JUMPED OVER THE LAZY DOGS BACK 1234567890-$!&"()"/:;?,.
See that the space bar and the FIGS and LTRS keys function properly when
used in typing the foregoing test. Be sure that the margin bell rings on the
63d character (including spaces) of each line.
