I am still in the midst of ascertaining a method of perpetuating the
spirit and services, if not the callsign of WC2XPF.
I have discovered that certain bureaus of the FCC tend to favor projects
and ambitions of relatively small non-profit groups who are intent on some
manner of service or effort for the public good.
To this end, Jerry Lockett, N6JP and myself have come up a possible
mechanism whereby the activities of WC2XPF would gain significant
consideration in the eyes of the FCC.
How many of you would consider joining what I shall call at this time the
"GreenKeys Teleprinter Collectors Association"???
I envision this as an incorporated, non-profit entity whose intent is to
foster the collection, restoration and operation of electro-mechanical
printing communication devices such as teleprinters, stock tickers, and
the like.
Essentially that is about what we do right now, but it is not a chartered
group.
Please think about it. There is a lot of expertise and skill amongst us,
and collectively we could do a rather impressive job of stating our case
before the commission.
I have no real life right now, but in order to keep the work and effort
that went into WA9XHN/WC2XPF from going into the toilet, I would be
willing to assume the position of President for a limited amount of time
until we either got it going or it was soundly defeated. There is plenty
of room for advisors and committees or other means of establishing a
course for such an organization.
I don't want to go into it much more right now, but will say that if you
are interested, send me your telephone number and I would be more than
happy to call and fill you in on what has transpired thus far, and why I
feel that an organized group can be a positive move.
My Phone is 253-833-6755 if you want to call me.
Thanks and 73,
George, W7KSJ
