Don't worry, Don - it appears the latest global warming
cycle has moved Wisconsin into Missouri's climate.  

This was a bizarre winter - the entire family walking
around Minneapolis in January without coats, in t-shirts? - 
Plants growing in February? - and I saw a mosquito alive and
flying in January.

I'm in Jefferson, WI, about an hour north of the WI-IL border.

As for rail museums, there's also the http://www.thresheree.org/.
They're more into the iron-and-steam than diesel-era, though.
They have an 80 acre permanent exhibition site with a 
steam train track.
