[GreenKeys] Wiring a teletype with X-10 power control

OK, X-10 hackers, here is a question for you...

I want to be able to turn my teletype on and off manually from the front
power switch,
but I also want my computer to be able to automatically power up the
teletype and print out a message, regardless of the position of the
power switch. In other words, I want my computer to be able to override the
manual power switch, in order to fire up the teletype and print out a message
at any time, and then shutdown the motor.

At the moment, I have a model 28 teletype which has an electrical service unit
in the cabinet, and a long metal shaft runs from a switch lever on the
front of the
cabinet back to toggle the ESU power switch.

*However* I am currently not using the ESU inside of the teletype cabinet
to power
the machine, I am using another ESU which I keep below the cabinet. I
currently have
that ESU plugged into an X-10 module, which my computer controls via a
Firecracker
X10 transmitter and receiver.

So ... what I think I would really like is to hook the teletype's manual
power switch up to some device
which just sends an X10 signal to turn on or off the teletype. I was
looking at the X10
"3-way" light switching hardware, which seems like it might do what I want;
they have a "master"
X10 module which switches the load on and off, and a "slave" which just
seems to connect
110 volts to a "control" input on the master module, to inform it that
someone has toggled the
slave switch. I don't quite understand how these things work (is it a
momentary connection, or
does the slave send some kind of coded signal for 'on' and 'off'? )

Anyway, if anyone has any good suggestions on how to wire up my machine to
have both
manual and "automatic override" power, please tell me your ideas!

Thanks,
	Henry
