Fellow Greenkey's,
I have just returned to ham radio after an almost 20 year
absence. I have just discovered this list but have yet to discover
it full potential. What now seems like a long time ago I was
really into RTTY. I ran a Johnson 500 xmtr with an R-390A
rcvr. I used a homebrew Mainline TTL decoder for a demodulator.
I had a Model 15, a 19, and a Model 14 printing tape generator
along with several 14TD's. Later I added a Model 28. I loved to come
into shack and open all the covers, fire up all the machines
and smell the oil, and listen to the mechanical sounds issuing
form all the gear.
Alas, several marriages and five houses later, all the tty gear
has gone off to tty heaven. I've still got the Mainline TTL
though.
I wonder if the mechanical gear is still used anymore?
my long time away from the hobby leaves me at somewhat
of a loss as to the status of rtty these days. I would to be
enlightened.
