Even though it gets hosed off, some engine degreaser likely remains in
linkages and felts. What does that do to the lube oil that it would mix
with? Would it just have the effect of a light solvent that thins-out the
oil somewhat? Or would it mostly evaporate with no residue like lacquer
thinner?

Hmm, never thought about the mainshaft -- could you dry that without removal?

I've never had a problem with 3-in-1 oil -- what happens to it?
