TT 176 is the older breed of 28 family used by the Navy. It is the rack mounted
unit. The cover is sheet metal and is a bit heavy. The metal latch handle just
below the keyboard in the front view is the cover release. This unit looks to be
very clean and kept in good condition. The service unit looks complete, I dont
see anything that has been changed on it. It has the local loop power
supply(rectifier), bell and loop adjustment(I think)pot to the right. I think
that relay in the middle is the motor control relay, used for remote turn-0n.
Have operated and repaired many of these units...most were on large ships and
shore stations. Primary use was as local loops, orderwires and test beds.
The ESU seems to be missing a "Local Test Switch" as to it being modified for
Amateur use..?? I think it may have been. I think I would use the local loop
supply as a external loop source. It could well be modified.
Well, there is my two cents. This unit looks good. Might think about snagging
it, if it was going to cost so much for shipping...
