Chuck,

I will admit, that is a curious "feature"; since my background is Bell TTY,
I never worked on the Telex machines (they were the RCA and WU machines).
But, I do have a beautiful 32ASR Telex machine and that's what got me
thinking about that odd sequence. I would assume
a Lorenz (European TELEX Model 15) does the same thing.
If you send the FIGS D from anywhere else the answerback will trip. So, the
FIGS D will have to be somehow "locked out". Of course, you could try to
figure out how to mechanically defeat it...but I wouldn't recommend that in
a 32 since they are so prone to act squirrely even when they do work.
