FIGS D on a Telex machine is the "Who Are You" (WRU) code for the distant
machine. When you type FIGS D you trip the distant machine's answerback drum
so that you know who you are connected to. I've never noticed if the code is
blocked by the reperf, but sounds like it. You wouldn't want to have a FIGS
D in an outgoing tape since it would trip the distant WRU (answerback) and
garbled the message.
