[GreenKeys] picture tapes, M28-TD, RTTYArt problem

Hi guys:

Well, I got my M28-TD running! I tucked a small 12VDC supply inside for
powering the solenoid/run-switch, and rs-232 out. After Bob McConnell
mentioned using the contacts to directly key the 232 port, I tried that and
it worked quite well. This unit actually had the space switch brought out
(and it looked like more hassle to connect to the mark sw), so I just had
it drive a pnp transistor. The 232 RXD line has a pull-down resistor to
ground for the mark state, and gets pulled to +12 by the pnp for space
pulses. AC power goes in, and a DB9-F hangs out.

I have a few art tapes now, and I was able to read one last night! I could
not get RTTYArt to work though. I set the baud to 74 (this is a 100wpm
unit), but the chars were garbled as if the baud rate was wrong. Bill? It
did work with HeavyMetal though, as a picture of Spock slowly crept up my
screen.

lots of fun!

gil
