Dear Confused,

This message was the result of a tangent question in the thread. All of 
those W2xxx words are amateur radio call signs issued by the FCC. The 2 
indicates that they were originally given to residents of New York State. 
Each of those listed was an early contributor to the HAM RTTY community, 
publishing either designs or improvements for do-it-yourself TU's, or radio 
modems for teletype use.
