[GreenKeys] Length of tape

Why doesn't someone contact the place that
is on the RTTY.COM list...Don, is is
Western Controls or something like that? Ask
them how much tape is on the rolls they sell.

With all due respect, tty rolls were in two basic
sizes dependant on the weight of the paper,
yellow was 100 foot rolls and newsprint type (thinner)
was 150 foot rolls. TTY tape was orderable in rolls
for each type machine 1" tape for 8 level was
typically in 8" diameter rolls and 7/8" 5 level tape was in
smaller 6" rolls.

By the way - does anyone have a source for these items?

Lazy Don,

1) Measure the thickness of ten layers of tape with a micrometer.  Divide
by 10 to get the thickness.

2) Measure the diameters of the first and last turn of tape on the roll,
add them and divide by two to get the diameter of the average
turn.  Multiply by 3.14 to get the length of the average turn.

3) Subtract the diameter of the inner turn from the diameter of the outer
turn and divide by two to get the thickness of the layers.

4) Divide this last number by the thickness to get the number of turns.

5) Multiply the number of turns by the length of the average turn to get
the total length.

6) Divide by the length of tape used in one minute to get the total minutes.

7) Report your results to the list.
