[GreenKeys] My old RTTY station

I miss my Model 26, and FRXD-3-EL "climbing monkey" non-typing reperf. I
still have the W2JAV t.u. built largely from old TV parts, however. It has a
W0HZR phase-shift oscilloscope on the chassis, and the beam centering magnet
is still in place, just where I positioned it back in 1963!

The rig back then was a Heathkit VF-1 driving a homebrew multiplier string
into a 6146 into a pair of 813s, powered by 872A mercury-vapor rectifiers,
swinging choke, etc. The receiver (drift box) was a Halliscratchers SX-99
with Heath QF-1 q-multiplier.

Oh, how I miss that Model 26 and the glow of those 872As! Anybody got a
Model 26 they'd like to part with?

Larry,

I am sure you have seen the two-way business change just as I saw the
Teletype world change when I worked for Ma Bell in the 1970's.

I had the Twin Cities TU for my first converter (I built it when I was 13
years old) and had a Model 26 running with a DX40 and S-108 receiver.

Jack WA2HWJ
