The AP slow speed wires, using M-15s were originally set up for 60 WPM and
sometime in the 1960s, I believe, they were upgraded to 66 WPM.

The M-15s, to the best of my knowledge, never ran at 75 WPM. When I
worked for AP in NC in late 1970s, we were running a mix of M-15s and
Extel printers for the radio wire, and they were all set up for 66 WPM.

I had asked about why the AP was still using M-15s and not the newer M-28s
and was told in tests, the M-28 did not hold up under 24/7 operations,
and required far more maintenance than the M-15s (in the same service).
