$99.00 is a little high for a Model 28, but it would be a shame to see this get dumped. Anyone near this person who might want to dicker with him?

Item Description:
This is an old "STOP THE PRESS" newsroom type Teletype model 28 which for many years was THE news service for radio and tv. Check out the print mechanism -- the old hammer and bouncing slugs, not the typewriter type keys of later machines. In remarkably good condition for its age. The case (appox 38" high, 22" wide, 24" deep at the keyboard) has a few scuffs, but no serious damage, scrapes... no rust at all (the main way to service these mechanical nightmares was to keep them super oiled). This is a 30 key keyboard plus 6 red 'special function' keys in the top row. No upper/lower case -- capital letters, numbers, and a few symbols only. The inside is unbelievably clean -- all of the knobs, levers, cams, shafts are clean and shiny -- covered with oil, of course, but no rust and very little dust/lint. When you plug it in, the motor runs and it does this great 'clack-clack-clack-clack' just like in the old black and white movies. There are 2 interior lights (working)!
which illuminate the window to make the breaking news easier to read. There are 2 'lamp cord type' cables with RCA plugs on the end -- for the wire service???? There is also almost a full roll of rather (by now) brittle paper. The 3 small holes in the front lid may have been for a copy holder or nameplate of some sort, but that is not present. There is a manual or copy holder on the left side (see photos). This would be a real beauty restored and from its current condition, restoration should be easy. Successful bidder is responsible for pickup (from the 44691 zip code) or packaging and shipping costs. Dimensions are above, the weight is estimated at 75-80 lbs. Best way might be palleted and motor freight. Payment by Paypal preferred, but checks ok. I will be happy to provide more pictures if requested or answer any questions I can. Good Luck!
