Teletype Corp was wholly owned by Western Electric. Western (or
WEco) developed specifications for equipment used in the Bell System.
Most of this work was done at the WEco facility in Kearny, New
Jersey. If the item was to be supplied by other that WEco itself, it
had to have a Kearny Specification (KS) and the item was solely
manufactured for Bell System use through WEco distribution channels.
