Regarding the Teletype Model 28 UGC-77:

I have traced out the AC wiring for the UGC-77 and also
have "converted" the selector wiring so the machine can
be used in the "receive-only" mode. Gil has developed
a keying circuit that adapts the optical encoder keyboard
distributor for use on a loop. These are good machines
that unfortunately suffered damage due to poor packing by the
original seller on Ebay.

If anyone has one of these beasts and would like to get it
running, just send a note to the Greenkeys list. Both of my
machines are being used in the "receive-only" mode and
they both run very well.

The machine now on Ebay was apparently a resell at a higher price
than most of us originally paid. But it seems to have also
suffered some shipping damage.

I believe all of these machines were government-refurbished before
being dumped on the surplus market. The typing units and
interior mechanisms seem to be in almost-new condition. The keyboard,
which is a variation on the Model 32 keyboard, is inherently fragile.

It is a shame that the original seller couldn't pack them better...I know
a lot of us were very disappointed when the machines were delivered.
