Just thought I would write and say hello to everyone. Have had a great time
so far at Dayton Hamvention. The weather has been wonderful. Got to watch a
helium balloon launch today for the first time. Interesting to see the prep
work done then filling the balloon with helium and a good launch. The
payload was beaconing on packet aprs and a slow scan tv transmitter.

Got to have a nice chat with Dennis K7BV at the Yaesu booth. Yaesu is coming
out with a new radio, FT-3000. Basically its a stripped down FT-5000 with a
single receiver, no dual receive.

Kenwood had the new 990 under glass. Not expected to be due out until near
the end of the year. Its a large radio with 2 built in receivers.

Saw Cliff K0CA working hard checking dx cards at the ARRL area along with
Dave Patton NN1N.

Some new amplifiers being shown both tube and solid state being manufactured
in Europe and one solid state from the USA that was at the RF Parts booth.
Will be interesting to see when they are fcc approved and what the price tag
will be.

I have not gone to any of the forums this year so cannot comment.

Flea market has been busy. Lots of quality equipment for sale. I even saw 2
Alpha 87a amplifiers for sale which for me, is a first here at Dayton.

Looks like 6m maybe kicking up its heels some since I am here. Hope you guys
are working stuff. Met HI3TEJ and 9Y4D who are active 6m guys.

73 for now,

Jay KA9CFD
