Recently I have received several wanted lists from GRDXA members and have
printed them out to have here at the station desk. I got to thinking
however, wouldn't be great to have everyone's wanted list in one spot? That
way, if I hear a rare country on the air, I can look at one reference and
see who needs to be notified.
So here is the offer: I can make a wanted list available online and
accessible by members for their reference. I would propose that the list
would not include common entities but only the most rare of the current DXCC
list. Who really needs to be notified in the middle of the night that an F
or a G or a DL is on the air? I would just list the top 100 countries based
upon the current top 100 survey results from the DX Magazine. The list
would be in PDF format for easy access and would include members contact
info as well as the hours during which they would want to be notified.
If this sounds of interest to you, I would be willing to collect the info
and assemble it into one spread sheet and make it downloadable in pdf from
the internet. The only limitation I would have to put in place is that in
order to make it easy for me to tabulate the info I would want to distribute
an EXCEL version of the spreadsheet for each member to insert his own wanted
info. This means that each of you would have to have Microsoft EXCEL. That
way I can just cut and paste info from an individual's sheet onto the
master. Updates could be done as needed, say on a monthly basis.
Also included on the sheet would be your contact info: Email address, Home
phone, Cell phone, Work phone and the hours during which you may be called
at each phone number, if at all such as in the case of a work phone.
If there is enough response to make it worthwhile, I'll distribute the EXCEL
sheet to get us started.
Let me know what you think?
