Good News!!
I was able to spend a little more time on the node issues tonight than I
thought I would be able with the Goblins and all a the front door all
evening.
However I got another machine up and running with the bridging program and
internet connection. The node seems to be working just fine, but only time
will tell. I am leaving the filter off for now just to keep the traffic
level up a bit until I am confident all is OK. Then I'll turn the filter
back on that filters out spots from foreign stations.
Sorry for the outage but remember that computer ran basically 24 hours a day
for over 7 years (except for the 1-1/2 years the node was off). Anyway it
is back on.
This has given me a bit of motivation to proceed to get the more modern node
software up and running. Most likely DXSpider since it is free. But, it
will take a while as I need to get another computer up and running with
Windows AND Perl (Linux interpreter) as DXSpider normally runs under Linux.
DXSpider will get everything down to one machine and give us more features.
But for now, DX PacketCluster node W9AWE is back on 144.91 MHz. Get in and
use it... the winter season is upon us and the low bands should be giving us
some good DX opportunities.
I'll keep you posted.
