[GPS_Standard] Frequency standard display

Hi Bob,

I'm building an enclosure plus electronics to support the OCXO, Motorola
ONCORE, VE2ZAZ FLL board, 2xRS232<>TTL converter, 12V>5V converter, LCD
display, and a PIC to sniff both the FLL board output and GPS output to show
some info on the display.

I've algo tested a programmable prescaler using a little PIC 12F675 to
generate other frequencies (1Khz was the initial idea).

My secondary PIC was going to be able to reset the alarms, but there is no
need for it now, just the pushbutton :).

Everything will go to my website when it's ready. I'll let everybody here
know just in case it helps someone. I will finish it some day, but as with
any hobby, it depends on the time available for it, which is scarce these
days.

By the way, Bert, thanks for the new firmware !

Regards,
Roberto

Hi Roberto;

You have a really good idea there. A little led display for my front panel
would be a good thing to have. Both Bert's controller and my Motorola GPS
receiver
send ASCII data to the PC when it's connected so, why not intercept the data
and
display selected bits of information on the display.

I think it might be a good thing to display the number of satellites we are
receiving data from
and other information pertaining to the operation of the system.

I'm afraid that I'm a bit PIC challenged but others might find this to be
an interesting project.

Best regards, Bob K7HBG

Greetings,

As promised, I have just updated my website with a new firmware version for
the VE2ZAZ GPS-Derived Frequency Standard. Version 4 (v4) adds the following
features:

- An Alarm Latch clear push-button feature which allows to clear any latched
alarm without having to log on to the system via RS-232C. Grounding pin 22
momentarily will clear the alarm latch.

- A 10MHz/5MHz OCXO rate selection based on the state of pin 21. High
(default, floating) state is 10MHz, Low (grounded) state is 5MHz. Pin state
is sensed at power up only.

Other than these two additions and some clean up work in the assembly source
file, no other feature was added and no changes were made to the FLL
algorithm.

Please visit my website for more detail.

Best Regards,

Bert, VE2ZAZ
