[GPS_Standard] FW: Followup 1 pps signal on Trimble Unts

Hi Jack,

Sometimes it is good to delay answering someone's email! ;-)

I knew that Ace II or III had TTL level 1PPS, so I was a bit skeptical on
your 2V swing...

The amber should not stay if both the 10MHz and the 1PPS are present and
detected. It should be red flashing off. And once a lock is sensed, green
flashing red, and after you clear the alarm latch via the Montrol tool,
green flashing off.

Have fun,

Bert, VE2ZAZ

Sorry about the string of posts, I found the problem with the pps -- bad
eyes on resistor code! Getting flashing Red on Amber LED. Counts and
Frequency both reporting only 1 in Montrol.

Thanks,
Jack

I was finally able to detect the pps signal -- it appears to be 2 volts. I
just didn't have the triggering figured out. But this now begs the question
of why I am not getting the pulse recognized. The LED just stays amber,
although I believe I have seen it red on occasion.

Thanks,
Jack

Folks,
I have two Trimble Lassen units (Ace II and Ace III) both of which detect
and report out positions with the Trimble monitor software - can almost see
the cable hanging from the window on the Birdseye view (HI.) However, no
pulse is reported on the LED nor can I detect the pulse with my scope on
either the GPS board or in the interface (open collector with 10K pullup.) I
have a 150 mHz Tektronix scope and have tried various approaches to
detecting the pulse. I see very faint pulse in some displays. I see no
options for enabling this in software but don't understand why neither unit
seems to be outputting the pulse. Montrol is reporting out status lines
every 16 seconds. Has anyone had similar experiences or any ideas on this
problem. I did order an Oncore GT+ from EBAY and will try that as well.

Thanks.

Jack
