Hello Cliff.......
G-50s aren't too hard to find. I see 6-8 a year at hamfests; prices
range from $75 to as much as $200, depending on condition. BTW, there were
several changes in these things during their production. The most obvious
is the knob type; I THINK the early ones used spun aluminum ones, and later
on, Gonset changed to the blue plastic (with white circular trim) knobs,
similar to the ones that were used on the 2 and 6 meter Communicator 3 rigs;
I could have these reversed, though. Some G-50s have a small low pass
filter mounted on the back, too. The other change they made was in the
receiver........one version is single conversion, and the other is dual (not
sure which came first).
G-28s are much less common. I see maybe one or two a year at hamfests,
and they usually bring a few more $$$, I guess because of how rare they seem
to be.
The Communicator IV for 220 MHz is pretty much impossible to
find.......took me over 20 years to finally find one, and it's the first and last one
I've ever seen. BTW........Gonset announced the 220 radio after the 2 meter
one was introduced, but before the 6 meter one was introduced.
The one Gonset item I'm looking for is a 432 MHz power amp (probably
similar to the 903 and 913 6 and 2 meter, single 4CX-150/250 amps they made).
As far as I know, it was never shipped or advertised, but in my Gonset file
is a large blueprint schematic for one (no model number.......just a
"project" number). I have no idea how far this project got........it might be
that it never got past the schematic drawing stage. I don't have a
mechanical drawing or parts list (or specs) for it.......just the schematic. As
far as I know, Gonset never manufactured or sold any ham gear for use
above 220-225 MHz.
Good luck in your search.
73, Herman, N4CH.

Thanks for checking out my request, and yes I am checking on "Epay" too.
