Wow, that was my first Ham radio as a teen - about 36
years ago.  Memories ...

Lived in the country so only succeeded in talking
to the Ham across town.  Homebrew 3-element coathanger
beam, old car battery, pup tent on the side of a hill.

Hollered CQ for hours.  Very disheartening.  Had a
Tech-Plus license (General written, CW TX/RX 5WPM).
Shame no-one even offered to loan a HF rig.  Lost
interest by college and missed 15+ years of Ham
radio until relicensed in my 30's.  Sigh.
