I couple weeks ago I picked up a Gonset G-76 with power supply on eBay.
It looked very clean, as the chassis was even shiny. The cabinet and
bezels were a bit scratched up. Anyway, I took it apart, and was amazed
how clean it was inside. So, brought up the power with the old
Variac...no smoke...in fact..no nothing. None of the toggle switches
worked! Got out the old Deoxit, cleaned switches, replaced toggles, even
had to clean the power connector pins.

Now I had power. I let the electroytics form. After a day or so, I had
sound from the speaker.

Then a big step....will it transmit? Dummy load, and gave it a try. YES!
tuned up nicely. Realigned the VFO, and listened to the signal on
another receiver. Amazing, no hum, and it sounds like good old AM!

Anyway, am doing cosmetic work now, painting the bezels, etc. The rig
seems to be working great. I have a few spare tubes, but oddly, the tubes
were OK, once I cleaned the pins/sockets with deoxit.
