the original mike for the communicator IV is the Astatic 335 H with a
slide switch.  This may have been supplied with the earlier
communicators but I forget.

You definitiely want a High Z ( high impedeance) dynamic, ceramic, or
even crystal mic.   A good inexpensive choice are the shure mics clipped
from old 2 way radios... these have everything you need. and can be had
for 50cents to 5 dollars at ham swap meets.

Most mics from transistor cb rigs are Low Z and not gonna work well.
