[GE] Synthesized Mastr ll

This will probably seem "old hat" to a lot of you but here goes...
I've been looking all over the internet (without success) for a synthesizer 
or "crystal eliminator" that will work in a mastr ll and other older 
commercial 2- way radios. Just seems like a good idea.
I'm sure others have been down this road and I would appreciate any info on 
buying or building or programming or any comments on this idea.
