[GE] S825 Control Head Backlight

I have one S825 Scan version head which appears to have a defective
backlight on the LCD display.  I am not (yet) too familiar with these and
haven't taken it apart yet, but I am wondering if anyone else has run across
this problem and how they solved it. In other words, if there is a generic
parts solution.

On this particular head, the illumination on the buttons works fine, it's
just the LCD that is not back-lit.  I am thus assuming the LCD is backlit in
a way separate from the control pushbuttons, and that either the EL strip or
its inverter is bad.

Also on the S825 heads, can anyone suggest some part numbers for just the
keypad overlay sheets ? My maintenance manual seems to list part numbers for
what I think are the entire front keypad and display assembly, when it would
be nice to just replace the worn-down silicone (?)keypad piece. Possibly
these numbers are NLA at TYCO anyway?
