Howdy to all,
A friend of mine that was the GE service man for the
city of Montgomery for some 30+ years (now since
retired) sent me mail yesterday asking if I had
any information on a GE Model 4SF1B6. Now that caught
me by surprise since I thought Tom knew everything
about GE's even the "Classic Radios" .... Hi.
Don't ya love how the vendor's spin "Classic" these
days when ya go looking for parts. I guess the word
"Obsolete" is not politically correct .... Sheeeze.
Anyway I digress .... since I mess with a lot of
old 2-way gear guess Tom thought I might have some
data on this receiver. I don't but it appears to be a
pretty neat unit according to the pictures he sent me.
Sort of similar to the vintage of the Motorola 30D
"Casket" radios. Anyway if anyone on the list has
any info on this "Classic" radio I'd appreciate hearing
from ya and I'll pass it on to Tom. I don't think he
participates in any on-line lists and guess I'm lucky
that he even uses e-mail .... Hi. Sooooo .... thanks
in advance and now I gotta figure what I can horse trade
him for that radio. That is I'm "Assuming" it's in his
possession. Thought I'd ask here on the list and see if
I could get any information before calling him back.
By the way the tag on this receiver has
the following information:
General Electric Radio Receiver
Model 4SF1B6
Type SF1B
Serial 37947
Freq. 30-42MC
Schenectady, N.Y.
Apparently this precedes GE of Lynchburg Virginia.
Thanks and everyone take care.
