[GE] Rangr programming - Niles Software

I am in the process of converting a low band Rangr (with S-550 head) to the
6 meter amateur band.  I do not have a suitcase programmer or a GE RIB
box,  however I do have the Niles software and a Data I/O Unipak II with a
System 29B eeprom programmer, which handles that type of eeprom.  I am
thinking I can just remove the eeprom from the Rangr and use the prom
programmer to put the appropriate Niles file into it that way.

Has anybody done it this way, and does anybody know what file format the
Niles programs are generated in (e.g. binary, hex, etc. ) ?
