[GE] Trunking question

When a dispatcher "stings" a radio does it damage the radio in anyway or
merely disable it? Also when it is Stung what is needed to unlock it will
simple RSS do it or does it need something more complex?

Reason im asking is someone got hold of a FD radio the other day and was
transmitting on it trying to find out who it belonged to long story short he
was just trying to return it to the owner but it got me to thinking why
didn't they just sting it? isn't that what the ability to sting a radio is
for?

Just random thought in the middle of the night :))
