This was picked up by the newly-installed W2MMD-10 70 cm APRS gateway that replaced the previous 70 cm Meshtastic node. It's a Heltec V3 running the APRS Gateway software (different from the Tracker software) and sharing the tri-band vertical on the old VHF tower with the Winlink 2 meter and 220 stations. It picked up my mobile tracker from around the Route 55 exit and also apparently picked up LoRa APRS 70 cm packets from this balloon.

Many of us have the 433 MHz LoRa units sitting around from the Meshtastic experiment so if you're interested in repurposing them to APRS let me know and I'll push some documentation to the Skunkworks site (skunkworks.w2mmd.org). We can also do a build day at the clubhouse if there's enough interest.

Subject: W2MMD-10 gated 27 frames from SP0LND-6 balloon - thank you

Hello,

I would like to thank you for the work of your station W2MMD-10, which received and gated 27 frames from my balloon SP0LND-6.

Summary:
- Frames gated: 27
- Longest distance: 480 km
- Last frame: 2026-09-25 12:53Z

SP0LND balloons are a new generation design - besides standard transmission, they also actively interact with the local network.

If you would like to learn more about the project, https://sp0lnd.pl/ contains a lot of information. I will gladly answer any additional questions.

73,
Damian SQ2CPA
