[GCARC] Another Item for Sale by Club

[Christopher Prioli AD2CS]

For sale - Kenwood TS-480SAT 100W HF plus 50MHz All-Mode Transceiver. The
TS-480SAT is a robust machine of fairly modest dimensions, but which also
includes a remote-mounted control head for simplified installation. This
radio has been in use by a large southern New Jersey radio club as their
remote-access HF station, using the RCForb software from RemoteHams. The
radio came out of service after it was inadvertently operated with an open
antenna connection due to a failure in the automatic antenna switching
system. That caused failure of the PA transistors, of course. To make the
long story short, the radio was repaired and a full alignment was
performed, bringing the radio back up to full operational status. However,
the Club decided to procure a new Icom IC-7300 in light of the price drop
on that model as well as its ease of configuration in the remote role, as
compared to the Kenwood. The Club decided that the best way to limit their
net out-of-pocket expense was to sell the Kenwood as well as an auto-tuner
that had been purchased for use with the Kenwood but never actually got
used -- read about that in the auto-tuner listing.

The radio is in great condition and as was already said, just had its final
power amplifier transistors and the bias control transistor replaced,
following which a complete alignment was performed. This would be a great
radio for anyone, despite its being the one-hundred-watt version instead of
the two-hundred-watt type.

The sale, which is final with no returns accepted, includes the basic radio
and its control head, the mounting bracket for the control head, the
control head cable, the microphone, the power cable terminated with
Anderson PowerPole connectors, a printed and bound copy of the User Manual,
and a printed and bound copy of the Service Manual. Asking price is
$850.00 plus tax and packing and shipping costs. There is some room for
negotiation, so don't be afraid to open a discussion.

Let me know if you are interested in this item. It is also listed on QRZ
in the Swapmeet section...
