Last night it was raised to the Board of Directors that several members
are concerned about a very long walk from the parking area to the picnic
pavilion. While the main parking lot for Ella Harris Park (the shared
entrance to Harbaugh Village, with the traffic light, directly across
from Shop Rite) is indeed a long walk to/from the Picnic Pavilion, there
is no need for our members to park there.
When we arranged use of the Pavilion, Harrison Township was gracious
enough to grant us permission to park in the Harrison Township Municipal
Building parking lot for this event. The Harrison Township Municipal
Building is located at 114 Bridgeton Pike (Route 77), immediately south
of Warren's Hardware, directly across the road from the Mullica Hill
Post Office. This is one quarter mile north of the park's main
entrance.
Jeff has illustrated the parking area well in maps located on the Picnic
page of the Club's website at:
https://gloucestercountyarc.weebly.com/2026-family-picnic.html
The pathway from the Municipal Building parking lot to the Pavilion is
300' long. As a point of reference, the Pavilion we used last year at
Red Bank is 200' from their parking lot. There is parking capacity at
the Municipal Building for over 60 vehicles. While we may use any
available parking spot in the Municipal Building lot, please use caution
to not block the gravel road which leads back to the Playground Parking
Area. As a courtesy to fellow members, please try to leave the closest
parking spaces free for use by our members with reduced mobility.
To make things easier on everyone, we will have someone moving
large/heavy items from the parking area to the Pavilion on a regular
basis. If anyone has any specific concerns, please reach out to me
directly and we will do our best to resolve them. We would of course
like everyone to be able to participate in this enjoyable club event.
While there is no charge for this event, we require those attending to
please register so that we can provide the appropriate amount of food
and beverages. For those who have not registered yet, there is still
time to do so. The last day to register will be this coming Monday, May
25. The registration form is available at:
https://registration.w2mmd.org/wpregp/gcarc-picnic.
Thanks, and 73,
