Over the next few Saturdays we have two hands-on sessions coming up that we hope many members will attend and enjoy.
First, this coming Saturday, March 21, we’re doing a DMR catch-up day. If you haven’t touched your DMR radio since last year’s session—or even if you have—this is a great chance to get back up to speed. The new KD2LNB DMR repeater at Rowan University is now on the air, so we have another solid DMR option in the area and we want to be sure that everyone can talk to it. We’ll go over the basics, flash OpenGD77 firmware on any new radios that need it, load the club’s standard codeplug, make sure you can actually talk on the network, and help anyone who’s trying to get a personal DMR hotspot running. If you want a head start, swing by the DMR section under Technical Resources on skunkworks.w2mmd.org.
Then, on Saturday, April 4 (our regular Tech Saturday), Chris AD2CS is coming back to run a “Basic Skills” class on building connectors the right way. You’ll assemble PowerPole power connectors (and similar ones) plus a proper PL-259 jumper cable, all with Chris showing you the tricks and best practices. It’s free, but you do need to register ahead of time here: Connector Class – GCARC Payments and Registration Portal<https://registration.w2mmd.org/connector-class/>
Saturdays at the Clubhouse is for learning, building and doing stuff together - hope to see many of you out for these sessions!
