Hi Folks...

While it may seem as if we *just* had the March Tech Forum Saturday program
(which we *did just have*), we must now start preparing for the April
session. That is because the April session will require pre-registration
if you want to participate in a hands-on exercise that will be presented at
the session.

Here's the plan... We intend to have each hands-on participant construct a
three-foot UHF patch cable and a two-foot 14AWG twin-lead power cable. The
patch cable will be coaxial cable with a PL-259 installed at each end. The
power cable will be 14AWG RED/BLK twin-lead zip wire with Anderson
PowerPole® connectors at one end, and standard 3/8" ring terminals at the
opposite end. For each skill being taught, the participants will first see
the process demonstrated. and then will perform the task hands-on
themselves. The completed cables will be tested and then will go home with
the participant who constructed them.

Participants will be instructed as to the preparation of coaxial cable for
connector installation as well as the actual installation of the connectors
and testing of the coaxial cable. Participants will then see the
installation of Anderson PowerPole® connectors demonstrated, after which
each participant will prepare a length of twin-lead zip wire and then
install the PowerPole® connectors. Finally, at the opposite end of that
twin-lead wire section, the installation of insulated ring terminals will
be demonstrated, followed up by similar installations of ring terminals by
each participant.

There is no cost to the participants for this program -- the costs are
being covered by the Club and the Foundation -- as we feel that these are
basic skills that all ham operators should possess.

As I said at the beginning, registration *is required* *for participation.*
If you want to simply sit in and observe, there is no need to register.
However, if you want to participate and construct these cables, gaining the
hands-on experience with the tools and skills involved, then you must
register so that we can bring in the proper quantities of supplies and
materials.

To register, simply go to Connector Class – GCARC Payments and Registration
Portal <https://registration.w2mmd.org/connector-class/> and complete the
registration form found there. Submit the registration by clicking the
*Submit* button, and the job is done...
