Greetings, fellow Earthlings! This is the announcement that you have all
been waiting for... that is, the announcement of the End-Fed Half-Wave
Antenna Build session. The build session is set for Saturday, 11 July
2026. This will be the July 2026 tech Saturday Forum event, occurring a
week late due to the 4th of July holiday.

Cost for this session will be as follows:

   - Basic λ/2 antenna, rated at 250 watts -- $60.00
   - Upgraded λ/2 antenna, rated at 1500 watts -- $75.00

The basis of this antenna is the 49:1 impedance ratio transformer
constructed inside a dark-grey UV-stable weather tight enclosure. The
transformer uses heavy-build 155°C-rated enameled copper magnet wire that
has insulation made of solderable polyurethane with a polyamide overcoat at
a diameter of 0.0675". The enclosure is provided with a stainless steel
eye bolt for hanging, and all other hardware throughout the build is of
stainless steel material. An end insulator for the radiator wire is
included.

At build time, each participant will be permitted to select the band for
which his/her antenna will be cut. Wire of various colors is available,
and is included (of course) in the kit, for both the radiator and for the
counterpoise. Tie-off rope, however, will not be included and must be
provided by the builder at the time of antenna installation.

Registration for this event is required, and we expect the session to fill
up rather quickly. Therefore, you should not delay in registering if you
want to be assured of getting a seat in the session. To register, go to End
Fed Half Wave Antenna Build – GCARC Payments and Registration Portal
<https://registration.w2mmd.org/wpregp/end-fed-half-wave-antenna-build/> and
complete the registration form found there.

This is a great bargain for the price, as the antenna will be of high
quality, and the cost is lower than that of the EFHW antenna kit being
offered online at many sites, including ARRL. Don't miss out on this
one... it promises to be a good event for the Club.
