Subject: [ARRLSouthernNewJerseySection] W1AW/2 Second Operation
Dear Northern/Southern New Jersey Section Members,
Before anything. Once again we thank all of you that participated in our first activation of W1AW/2 in NJ. You made it a successful event for our State. Now, we are ready to do it again!
Next week we go to round 2, the authorized operating period is from Tuesday evening (Wednesday UTC) 0000z August 5, 2026, to 2359z August 11, 2026.
We encourage all clubs within the Northern & Southern New Jersey Section to participate in this important nationwide event. However, we are also specifically asking INDIVIDUAL operators throughout the Sections to sign up and help put W1AW/2 on the air.
You are all aware that is not every day that we get the opportunity to operate using the prestigious W1AW callsign, and we hope many of you will take part in representing New Jersey and Amateur Radio during this historic celebration of America’s 250th Anniversary.
The scheduler/locator is available at:
<https://teamup.com/ksnonywghfgpomd3z5> https://teamup.com/ksnonywghfgpomd3z5
When scheduling your operating time, please list your club affiliation. Start getting your slots in ASAP
VERY IMPORTANT REMINDER - Please avoid operating the same mode and frequency if another station has already reserved that slot. Multiple operations on the same band are welcome, provided they are on different modes. For example:
• 20m CW
• 20m SSB
• 20m FT8
…can all operate simultaneously. PLEASE DOUBLE CHECK THE CALENDAR AND THE SCHEDULED STATIONS. We thank you wholeheartedly for following this important step. Again, thanks to Bob, KE2D for providing the calendar for this event.
In addition, when operating CW or digital, please do not affix the state designator to the callsign suffix and do not on DIGITAL call “CQ 250 W1AW/1” as the receiving station may decode your call as “250”—drop or do not include ”250” in DIGITAL CQs. With the following use: “W1AW/1 CT” not “W1AW/1CT” - the full callsign and state designator are kept separate.
It is both highly recommended and encouraged that all stations are operating within the General Class Sub Bands for all modes.
Special note: You must NOT upload your logs as Cabrillo file Contest entries for any contest operating events. ONLY ADIF
Although the operators of W1AW/2 stations can and will make QSOs during ARRL contests, their logs will only be uploaded to Logbook of The World (not to the Contest uploading system).
When your operation has concluded for your “shift” the day, please use the following link to upload your regular ADIF-formatted log:
<https://contests.arrl.org/am250waslogutility.php?p=am250was> https://contests.arrl.org/am250waslogutility.php?p=am250was
For your ADIF-format ONLY files, please ensure that you use their correct station location information – Grid Square, CQ Zone, ITU Zone, State, County or Borough – when configuring their logs. In addition, if using FT-modes, ensure that the log reflects MODE=FT8 or MODE=FT4, not MODE=MFSK. Please be sure that your various programs (e.g., WSJT-X) are configured back to personal use after the 2026 America250 activation.
IMPORTANT - If you operated as a POTA station, send to the above link your regular log, but the POTA formatted Log, please send your logs to James, KB2FMH at:
