The “Skirmish in Swedesboro” occurred on April 4, 1778 when British troops from Fort Billingsport (today’s Paulsboro) marched into Swedesboro (then known Raccoon), fired a few shots, burned a schoolhouse and a few homes to avenge the arrest of a few loyalists, then returned to their fort after running low on ammunition.  Not quite as famous as the Battle of Bunker Hill and we still don’t trust people from Paulsboro😊.
