Many club members have been exploring DMR and setting up their radios and hotspots following our group session last Saturday while others may already be operational on DMR. I'd like to get all DMR users on the "air" tomorrow night at 7 PM on the GCARC talk group (3198604) to see how many are operational and to provide some assistance to those who may still be having issues. If you're not on DMR, this isn't for you...
To join the "net", tune your DMR radio and hotspot to the GCARC talk group: 3198604. If you received the radio codeplug shared on Saturday, this talk group is already programmed. If not, you’ll need to manually add a channel on your radio using your hotspot’s frequency and the GCARC talk group, either manually or using the CPS programming software. For OpenGD77 radio users, you can simply press the # key and then enter the talk group (3198604) while on the hotspot frequency to override the current channel’s talk group.
For hotspots, you have two connection options:
1. Dynamic Connection: Transmit to your hotspot with the desired talk group (3198604) and timeslot. This opens the talk group on the hotspot for about 15 minutes. It’s quick to set up but temporary.
2. Static Connection: Configure a permanent connection to the GCARC talk group via the Brandmeister website. This is ideal for a talk group like GCARC’s that you want always active. We’ll cover how to set this up during the net.
I’ve been monitoring the GCARC talk group on my DMR radio, so feel free to call me anytime for a test. You can also reach me directly via a private call using my DMR ID (3163416) as the talk group.
Let’s gather on the air tomorrow at 7:00 PM to see how it goes.
73,
Jon WB2MNF
