1. GC-ARES will participate in Winter Field Day. All radio amateurs
and guests welcome to participate with us. The main purpose will be to test
our ability to operate from the Red Cross Trailer using equipment that we
received recently from the POD, focusing on the Yaesu FT-857 for HF and the
ICOM ID-5100 for VHF/UHF.

2. Bob KD2NEC will park the trailer at the GCARC site along the tree
line between 9 AM and 10 AM on January 25. The trailer contains tables for
operating radios, chairs, a propane heater and Carbon Monoxide detector for
safety.

3. Karl W2KBF will arrive between 9 AM and 10 AM with a generator,
power supply, antenna launcher, 40 meter EFHW antenna and paper for logging.

4. The first tasks will be to shoot lines into the trees for the HF
wire antenna(s) and set up a VHF/UHF antenna.

5. We plan to go on the air at 11 AM and to operate for several hours
using the exchange W2KBF 2M SNJ.

6. Our focus will be to test readiness rather than scoring QSO
points. Therefore we will find time and encourage you to test out any
equipment that you want to bring from home, e.g. generators, radios,
antennas and coax.

Karl W2KBF and Bob KD2NEC
