[GCARC] "Got My License, Now What?" Session - Wednesday night, 6 PM at the Clubhouse

In OTHER news this week... the "Got My License - Now What" seminar for newly-licensed hams will be held at the Clubhouse on Wednesday night February 12 from 6 until 9 PM. This session's objective is to provide new hams with an overview of the many aspects of ham radio and help them begin to find their niche within the breadth of this hobby. The session will cover topics such as:

Handheld radios (HTs) programming and use on repeaters
  *
HF operating, different modes, contesting overview and advantages of different bands
  *
Antennas - alternatives and advantages
  *
Parks on the Air equipment and operation
  *
Lightning protection and grounding
  *
Satellite and other extraterrestrial operating
  *
VHF operating
  *
Software-defined radios
  *
Microcontrollers and their use in ham radio
  *
and several other topics.

Presenters will be specialists from each of the subject areas, and one goal of the session is for attendees to meet the right person for their particular area of interest.
