Good Morning GCARC! The ARRL 10m contest starts tonight at 7 PM local time
(0000z) and runs for 48 hours. Propagation might be fairly good, and there
are already a bunch of DX stations in Europe on there checking out their
antennas, and stating their intentions to call in for the contest. This
contest, like most ARRL contests, is focused on North America, but it is
still popular with the DX stations, so activity promises to be good.
So what does this mean to you? Well, a chance for 10m Worked All States,
and a chance to pad your 10m DXCC numbers too. And, you don't need a lot of
power on this band either. As far as antennas, if you have a CB antenna
like an iMax 2000, that will work just fine. The exchange is simply a
signal report and your state. You can work CW, SSB, or both; either low
power or high power, or even QRP if you dare. Why not give it a try? You
have nothing to lose but a few hours of your time, and I can think of worse
ways to spend that.
Hope to hear a few of you joining us on the band. 73 de K3TS
