Mark,
Pinpoint doesn't require too much in order to get it to beacon. For
direwolf as the tnc:
Within Pinpoint, under Tools > Options > TNC Tab:
1) Set a TNC Type of "network KISS mode"
2) Check the "Connect TNC automatically when Pinpoint starts" Box
3) Under the Network KISS TNC Settings section, put the appropriate IP
address (or hostname) in the "TCP/IP address or URL" text box. If
direwolf is running on the same system as Pinpoint, then that address
would be "localhost" or 127.0.0.1
Next, under Tools > Options > APRS Tab:
1) Set your call sign
2) Set the APRS Path, generally "WIDE1-1,WIDE2-1" is OK
3) Under the APRS Position Beaconing Settings, check the "Enable APRS
beaconing" checkbox
The last thing is that Pinpoint needs to know where you are. Assuming
you don't have a GPS on the laptop, you want to close the options
window, find your location on the map, and hold down shift while
clicking your location. That will set the location and then it should
beacon.
That should get Pinpoint going. If it is still not transmitting, watch
the direwolf text output to see if it is attempting to transmit. That
would let you know if there is an issue with the PTT configuration in
direwolf. Let us know if that doesn't get it going and we will figure
out how to help troubleshoot further.
Thx
Frank
