Vinnie N4NYY, you should consider hanging on to your old Garmin because a
dedicated GPS will continue to work under conditions that cause
Smartphone-based Apps to fail.
Here is a case in point: I was returning from a family visit in Connecticut
during the holidays and we were using the WAZE app on my iPhone (which was
connected to the infotainment screen) in my XYL's Ford Explorer. There was
a big tie up on Interstate 84 so WAZE re-routed us off of the Interstate
onto a secondary road. The problem was that, once on the secondary road,
WAZE became dysfunctional, could not tell us where we were and got us lost
in the backwoods of Connecticut. At first I thought the problem was with my
iPhone so we switched to my XYL's iPhone, however the problem remained. I
think this is because, given the hilly topography of Connecticut, we ran out
of range of cell phone towers and WAZE relies upon cell phone data from WAZE
servers to plot your position and provide route guidance. This never would
have happened to us if we were in my old Mercury, where I have a Garmin GPS,
since the GPS contains the map information and does not require cell-phone
data.
We were lost for about an hour and had to rely upon a compass to get
us heading back in the right direction to return to the Interstate highway.
So now we keep an old Garmin GPS in the glove box as backup.

software

I haven't used this for a while as I use my smartphone with Android auto.
This is for people that don't use smartphone GPS, or have an older car
without a GPS or video screen. Comes with original box, window suction cup,
car charger, and wall charger. The software and maps were both fully
updated in December. Has lifetime maps and traffic (hence LMT). Read to go!

$25
