Subject: Atlantic County Simplex Test - February 10 2024
We will be once again conducting a simplex operations tests to assess the condition, functionality and efficacy of our current equipment. This is a great opportunity for Auxcom/ARES Operators and any Amateur Radio Operator available and in range to test their equipment as well. We are looking to determine how far our signal reaches and how clearly we can be heard. We have recently installed brand new 21 foot Commander antennas at 200 feet and a brand new Icom 9700 that have yet to really be put to the test.
We are asking that if you are available, please participate in this exercise as well as share the details of this event with any Amateur Radio Operator you know who might also be interested in participating. We encourage you to share the details of this exercise with Amateurs in neighboring states like Pennsylvania and Delaware. Please feel free to share on Social Media and any other channels as well. We would like to have as many people participate as possible from as far away as can hear us. We plan to conduct this exercise every 60 days for at least the next year to determine equipment performance during the different seasonal conditions.
We will be logging and mapping the locations of the contacts we make from the Atlantic County EOC during this test. We encourage you to map/log the stations you hear from your location as well and share it with us. We would like to compile a comprehensive log to share with everyone that will tell you who heard you and where. We will post this report within s few days after the exercise.
After receiving feed back from other hams in the area and in the interest of keeping with establish frequency spacing guidelines we have permanently changed there operating frequency for these tests to. 146.565 MHz please use this frequency when trying to contact us.
