GCARC Members,
The Battleship NJ is hosting a Scout Troop onboard the Battleship this weekend.
One purpose of the event is for the scouts to achieve getting their Amateur Radio patch.
We will have two of our Battleship’s radio operators working with the scouts on Sunday morning between the hours of 0900 and 1100.
If you have a few minutes to help teach scouts a little about becoming an Amateur Radio Operator, send an email to Dave at KC3AM at VERIZON.NET and Ed at WA2TVS at VERIZON.NET. They will not only be grateful but you will be helping to grow the next generation of HAMs.
The simplex frequency they use is in their email, along with their attachment with some questions you can ask the “Scouts On The Air”.
I hope to hear you on the air.
Best regards,
Bob KD2NEC

Bob,
Thanks for your reply.
We start at 0900 and usually use a simplex frequency.
Depending on the size of the group we are usually done by 1100 and often before that.
We bring 5 - 6 scouts into the shack at a time.
I have attached a list of questions we use but you are not limited to what you you ask to get them to talk.
The 146.820 repeater in Camden has not been on the air for a while.
We usually use 144.340 simplex with Ron or Vince.
It looks like you are not too far away from the ship so simplex should work.
Thanks very much for your help.
Ed please respond!!!

Good morning Ed and TV Dave,
Do you want me to standby for a call at a particular time on Sunday or if you give me the frequency, I could call NJ2BB. Using one of the Camden repeaters would work best and I’m sure the Trustees would not mind.
